Adding a Knowledge Source to the Agent

The Knowledge section allows you to add information sources that the agent can use when generating responses. Corporate documents, files, websites, or other knowledge sources can be connected to the agent so that it can use these sources when responding to questions on specific topics.

To add a new knowledge source, click + Add File in the Knowledge section.

The screen that opens provides four different source types:

Source TypeWhat It Is Used For
Knowledge BaseConnecting existing sources in SkyStudio
File UploadAdding files from your computer
WebsitesAdding web pages as knowledge sources
SharePointConnecting corporate SharePoint sources

5.1 Knowledge Base

The Knowledge Base allows you to connect knowledge sources that have already been created or added in SkyStudio to your agent.

When the same documents or knowledge sources need to be used by multiple agents, you can use existing Knowledge Base sources. This eliminates the need to upload the same sources separately for each agent.

5.2 File Upload

The File Upload option allows you to add files from your computer directly to your agent.

You can drag and drop files into the upload area or click the upload area to select files from your device.

The files you add become knowledge sources that the agent can use when responding to user questions.

Supported File Types

You can upload different types of documents, data files, presentations, audio files, video files, and images to your agent.

5.3 Websites

The Websites option allows you to add website content as a knowledge source for your agent. Once added, the agent can use the selected content when responding to user queries.

Add a Website Source

  1. In the agent editor, open the Knowledge section and select + Add File.
  2. Select the Websites tab.
  3. Enter the URL of the web page or website you want to add.
  4. Select Discover Pages.
  5. Choose the discovery scope:
    • This Page Only: Adds only the page at the URL you entered.
    • Full Site: Discovers pages linked from the starting URL.
  6. From the list of discovered pages, select the pages you want to add as knowledge sources. You can select pages individually or use Select All.

Discover and Select Pages

When you select Full Site, SkyStudio discovers and lists up to 50 pages linked from the starting URL. Each discovered page is displayed with its title and URL.

Discovered pages are not added to the agent automatically. Select the pages you want to include before adding them as knowledge sources. This allows you to exclude login pages, duplicate pages, or content that is not relevant to the agent’s purpose.

Choose an Appropriate Scope

For large or multi-page websites, select a starting URL that is relevant to the agent’s intended use. For example, if the agent needs to answer questions about a specific product, service, or topic, use the relevant category or content page as the starting URL.

If a website contains more than 50 relevant pages, the discovered list may not include the entire site. Confirm that the pages you need are included in the list. If necessary, add another website source using a different starting URL.

5.4 SharePoint

The SharePoint option allows you to add corporate SharePoint resources to your agent as knowledge sources.

If internal company documents and other corporate content are stored in SharePoint, you can connect the relevant resources to your agent so that it can use this content when generating responses.
